‘In Amsterdam’ is a photo book celebrating 13 undocumented residents of Amsterdam, by showcasing their portraits, alongside with personal stories. The layout and design of the book is a form of a visual essay and additionally mirrors their everyday struggles.
Passport - Like Size
The size of the book is an allusion to a passport and through the use of rounded edges and exact same proportions reminds of the document itself.
Book Margins & Bold Names
Them being marginalised by the community is reflected in the design through placing each portrait on both a page margin, to mention how disregarded their struggles are, and the center of the page, with a bold name on top, to oppose that behaviour and present them with with deserved respect and attention.
